Drake’s “Iceman” Release Date Thaws Out Following Toronto Publicity Stunt

The mystery surrounding Drake’s highly anticipated ninth studio album, Iceman, may have finally been solved—albeit through a bit of manual labor from his fans.
On April 20, a massive ice sculpture materialized in a Toronto parking lot, with the OVO rapper claiming the official release date was frozen deep within the block. While the “natural melt” was the intended timer, eager fans bypassed the wait, attacking the ice with pickaxes and bare hands.
By the evening of April 21, Twitch streamer Kishka successfully chipped away enough ice to reveal the date: May 15. Shortly after the discovery, the Toronto Fire Department intervened, hosing down the remains and cordoning off the area for safety reasons.
This project marks Drake’s first solo return since 2023’s For All the Dogs and serves as his first major statement following his high-profile lyrical feud with Kendrick Lamar.
The Vision: Drake has described the album as a “one-on-one conversation” intended for his core audience.
Confirmed Collaborations: Based on YouTube livestream snippets, the tracklist is expected to include:
“What Did I Miss?”
“Which One” (feat. Central Cee)
“Dog House” (feat. Yeat and Julia Wolf)
Despite the wait for a solo LP, Drake remained a fixture in the headlines throughout 2025. Earlier this year, he released the collaborative project $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PartyNextDoor.
He also recently navigated a legal setback when a federal court dismissed his defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group regarding Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” In the ruling, Judge Vargas noted that the “incendiary language” used during the rap battle was part of a heated creative exchange rather than a presentation of “verifiable facts.”
While the May 15 date has been uncovered, official confirmation from Drake’s representatives is still pending.
