Mtendere Man Tells Court Wife Gets Boyfriend When He Gets Girlfriend
A 39-year-old man from Mtendere has told the Chelstone Local Court that infidelity had become a recurring issue in his marriage, claiming that whenever he got a girlfriend, his wife also found a boyfriend.
Joseph Kanguya, a fashion designer, made the claims while responding to a divorce case brought against him by his 32-year-old wife, Mary Mukupa, a housekeeper. The matter was heard at the Chelstone Local Court on September 20, 2026.
Kanguya reportedly described the situation as a “competition in cheating” within the marriage.
He claimed that his wife had been involved with another man for about three years. According to his account to the court, the man had allegedly admitted the relationship to him during a telephone conversation.
Kanguya further alleged that his wife’s friend, identified as Naddy, had provided a room at her home where the two allegedly met.
Mukupa, however, filed for divorce and gave a different account of the problems in their marriage.
According to the court report, she accused her husband of being irresponsible and said he had failed to contribute towards their children’s school fees.
The case highlights the breakdown of a marriage in which both parties have raised allegations concerning relationships outside the union.
The Chelstone Local Court will consider the parties’ accounts as it deals with the divorce proceedings.
