Anambra Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Child Abuse (Video)

Police in Anambra State, Nigeria, have arrested a 36-year-old woman in connection with an alleged case of child sexual exploitation and pornography after disturbing material involving a minor circulated online.

The suspect was identified by police as Anulika Onyeanusia and was arrested in Onitsha on September 10, 2026, following information obtained through open-source intelligence concerning a video allegedly depicting the sexual abuse of a child.

The Anambra State Police Command said the operation also resulted in the rescue of four children, aged two, three, six and nine.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said investigators recovered items considered relevant to the case and that the suspect remained in custody while officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.

The police are also questioning the woman’s husband as part of efforts to establish whether anyone else was involved.

The case gained widespread attention after alleged abuse material involving a minor began circulating on social media, prompting calls for law-enforcement intervention.

Authorities have urged that the identities and privacy of the children involved be protected while the investigation continues.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State directed officers to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the rescued children receive appropriate care and protection. Police said their welfare remains a priority throughout the process.

The arrest comes amid growing concern in Nigeria about the exploitation of children through online platforms, particularly where minors are used to generate content or financial returns.

Separately, reports published after the arrest said the suspect allegedly told investigators that money had been made from material involving one of her children. Those claims form part of the ongoing investigation and have not been established in court.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the suspect has not been convicted of any offence.
